About:

I was born in the former mining town of Ashington in the North East of England and raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne with my younger siblings Jenny and Mikey.

I initially attended art college with aspirations of being a painter or graphic designer but got hooked on photography after developing my first roll of film and realising I really wasn't anywhere near as good a painter as my fellow students.

I’ve always been fascinated by discovering people’s stories and what makes them do what they do so portraiture was an obvious draw for someone who is really just a bit nosey.

I love storytelling with my photographs, placing people and personality at the heart of the work. I like using bold colour, graphic framing and little fuss to create a curiosity for the viewer.

After a time spent working in London I now live with in the North East with my wife Hannah and my badly behaved cat Beertje.

My work sees me travel across the country and internationally taking commercial, corporate and editorial commissions.

In addition to my client led work I run an online editorial platform named Pattern which acts as a space for me to self commission personal projects alongside feature interviews about people’s work, life and the intersection where the two meet.
